For five years Gautier Deblonde has worked closely with British artists to arrive at photo-images that catch the quick of the art world.
Very few of these photographs have ever been published, and by bringing them together in this book another work of art is created.
The artists represented here have all been working in Britain in the 1990s. Sometimes the photographs are the result of a single encounter, on other occasion Deblonde has visited and revisited the artist.
As Mel Gooding explains: “What Deblonde seeks is hard to define in words…What Deblonde finds, on the other hand, is evident: it is something unexpected, unplanned, unpremeditated; it is a discovery determined by his method; it is an event you couldn’t anticipate”.
